Behind the scene is Daniel Csorgo, a seasoned diplomat and visa expert. As a lawyer by education and training he spent his entire professional career on issues related to visa policy, border management and consular matters.

He has been working in different positions of his national foreign service where he developed very strong organizational and project management skills. 

In 2012, he joined the European Commission's Visa Policy Unit responsible for, amongst others, the oversight of outsourcing of Schengen visa processing. He was also involved in the preparation of large scale (biometric) IT systems related to border and identity management. He spent two years  (2018-19) in the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union advising Presidencies on visa policy and Schengen-related matters.

From 2020 to 2026 he was a Commission lead expert ensuring worldwide oversight Schengen visa processing by Member States' consulates. In his role he visited and inspected consulates of almost all Schengen countries across the globe. 

In 2026, Daniel decided to leave public service to test and further develop his experience in the private sector by utilising not only his knowledge related to the functioning of the Schengen area but also to the functioning and the institutional framework of the EU and national administrations.

He maintains a strong personal network of professionals and decision-makers both in Brussels and the national capitals.
